Whats new?(my life is over) Felon.

Ok, so a lot has happened since I've been on last. Got sucked into some gang bullshit, some asshole convinced me to help him steal some shit using a credit card number he had written down and convinced me to have it all mailed to my door, and got me to take the fall in the end.(I even got tricked into writing an apology letter by the cops, and telling them i got the number from work, which is a complete lie that I made up because I was afraid of being killed.(blood in blood out, yknow, that kind of bullshit propaganda they spew) S.O.B. even had me convinced he was a hardened felon, part of the North Side Mafia. Turns out he grew up in a group home in chilcoot. Fucking liar.)

Now I realize I've been set up, and used, and I'm trying to come clean and tell the real truth but the cops aren't calling me back, nor can I get a hold of them in person because there's so much other crazy shit going on lately that they have their hands tied.(not to mention they're underfunded/staffed, so...).

Meanwhile, my P.O.S. public attorney is basically going along with whatever the D.A. says and I'm looking at up to a year or more in county jail, and up to five years probation.(depends on what the judge decides I suppose) I told him what was going on, but he acted like he didn't care.(probably didn't) Said all it'd do is bring a second charge against him, but wouldn't help me none. Told me my only option was to take the plea bargain.

So now I'm charged with a felony grand theft. Since I got involved with a certain wannabe porteno asshole, I've been laid off.(and not for economic reasons, like they say), nearly lost my apt. cause of the lay off, and now may be in jail. Oh, AND I owe debt collectors for loans taken out to finance his bullshit. I got played. BIG TIME.

Oh, and I'm smoking cigarettes a LOT more lately.


Anyway, didn't mean to vent, but that's my life right now. Srry I haven't come around more often, but you can understand.

I want to offer some sort of "Dude, that sucks" platitude, but when I try to think about what I can actually say that means something. . .

Rum, how the hell did you get into this mess? You've gotten into trouble with these sorts of people again and again, and when has it ever turned out well for you? I just can't believe you'd walk into a den of thieves hoping to find friends. Seriously, you must have looked like a nice juicy steak on legs would look to a pack of dogs. It's almost like you must have watched some really bad movie a long time ago that romanticized the street thug life, and you thought, "I wish I had bros like that." That doesn't exist. You just keep jumping headfirst into a world where the rule is to screw the other guy first. Why?

We've all given you advice about this stuff. You said you'd had enough of shady dealings the last time you got fucked over. I mean, you've got my sympathy; you're in an awful bind and they've got you dead to rights. I'm sorry if I'm being too harsh here. . . but don't you know the definition of insanity?

I don't want to go all 'life-experience' on you or anything Arcc (I daresay I wouldn't stand a chance in that regard), but I've seen this side of things before (urban-Manchester 'council estate' upbringing and all), and sometimes you're not really left with a choice, even if trying to describe why that is can sometimes sound weak. Sometimes it isn't some secret shadow-world that you 'fall into'. A lot of the time it can be a fact of life: Out in the open. Common knowledge.

I don't know if you've ever heard of Desmond Noonan, but he's pretty well known, over here. I met him just once (my mom once got into a fix with him for spurning an advance, luckily nothing ever came from it), and it left an impression. He didn't even try to hide who he was. I saw a guy get his head bottled in for failing to peddle drugs (in a rehab clinic no less) and it was completely out in the open. He could do that. No police convictions ever sat (mostly because he 'owned' a lot of the police) and he knew it.

Hell, sometimes this stuff isn't even that black and white. It's more complicated. Gangsters can provide for neighbourhoods that the government won't touch. In some cases, they're more help than hindrace, which is partly why they are so 'untouchable'. A lot of police can have family members who are in these areas. I'm not trying to be condescending or anything, but I can emphasize with Rue's situation.

Yea except this person doesnt provide for the community. In fact, everyone in town pretty much hates him.

If you can get out of this predicament, maybe it's time to leave? If you're known among the less savory people in your community I say it's time to make a fresh start.
