A Short Story Of: Dainn Canon
Dainn fell back from the battle, turning around the corner and hiding. Rose was already knocked out and Dave was off somewhere, probably getting his ass kicked, too. He was staring down a group of three kobolds and an ogre, and he was already pretty beat up. Luckily, none of the kobolds saw him escape, though that means there isn't much time before they make sure Rose is dead. He needs to act now.
He looks around the corner from his hiding place down the hall. The kobolds were interspersed throughout the room, looking for Dainn. The wanted wizard hatches a plan. He summons his familiar, Sphinx the cat. He sends her out to plain sight for the one closest to him. Sphinx lets out a loud mewl, and the kobold turns, seeing the cat. The cat turns and wanders down the pathway. The kobold follows.
Just as the kobold follows the cat to the opening that Dainn is waiting at, he jumps out, covering the kobold's mouth and hitting him with a shocking grasp. The kobold screeches into Dainn's sleeve, but quickly slumps.
One down, Dainn thinks. He turns to the kobolds in the room, still, and they just realized their compatriot is missing. As they look down the hallway Dainn was standing in front of, he's already gone.
Dainn readies his next spell. He sends out his dual magic missiles out, making sure they hit the two kobolds from the front. They both grunt and visibly get knocked back. One immediately points to the door opposite Dainn and head through, leaving the ogre completely exposed.
Dainn puts his final act into play. First, he waits for the kobolds to get nice and far away from the room. After a bit, he peaks his head out again, making sure that his visibility is minimum as he looks on to concentrate on where to activate the spell.
The ogre is looking at the door the two kobolds went through, which was much too small for him. Suddenly, a ball of fire appears right in front of him. He jumps back n fright, but when it doesn't move he becomes more perplexed. He reaches toward the ball, slowly. As he touches it, the ball moves onto the ogre's head, engulfing it in flames. The ogre shrieks in pain and runs around the room. The ogre smashes the tables and chairs in the room in his rage, but the ball doesn't dissipate.
For an agonizing half-minute, the ogre raged, his skin charred and eyes only just barely functional. He could see a silhouette come out of the corridor and he rushed towards it, fists being swung like gigantic maces. Unfortunately he hits nothing but air. He feels an incredibl burn hit him in the back, further burning his already badly burnt body. He turns towards the source of the burn and it's the same silhouette. He rushes the blur and gets rewarded with the same result as last time.
By this point, the ogre is on his last rope. He turns again towards the blur and swings at it, but his injuries and exhaustion makes him miss. The ogre falls over, landing at the feet of this mysterious figure. Dainn reaches out and finishes the beast off with a shocking grasp.
The kobolds regroup outside the room, finding nothing a minute later. As one kobold opens the door he's flung against the wall by an invisible force, knocked dead. The other runs to the door to see Dainn standing there, staff in the air.
"Say goodnight."

Hold it, a fireball?
That means this happens in the future. Do you know what this means?
You've created a fixed point in time. It has to occur now.
